Here's the playbook: you get in, grab a tray and drinks, and peruse the menu. It's a Good Ol' 'Merican Breakfast at its best- for seriously. I wouldn't say diner, but I wouldn't say it's a pinkies up kinda breakfast place. You should totally go here! Yes it gets busy but just go early! Everyone working there will be in their best mood and you won't feel rushed. Potato strands that were more on the soft side, but they went perfect with the main dish. Absolutely delicious! The hash browns were unconventional but I loved them. And the gravy, oh the gravy! Other reviews say it's a little strong on the pepper but not for me! It has the slightest hint of hot red pepper in it and that sent it over the top for me. They are large and thick yet light and buttery. The biscuits alone set them above the rest. I can easily say it was the best plate of biscuits and gravy I've ever had. The food, my friends, was superb! I ordered the infamous Biscuits and Gravy with hash browns. And the place itself is clean and appropriately comfortable.īut that was not even the best part. I went on a Tuesday morning around 7:30 and the line was short and quick (I didn't even wait outside). I can now confirm that the reports are true. What you've heard and read is infact true. Most of the food & service we had was "meh" at best while we were in KH. This is a place that was a bright spot for me. Interesting to note that when it started getting busy he grabbed an apron and pitched in where needed. I mention that since we were on our way home and had what turned out to be a 20 hour drive so this was a great start. It is amazing to see how smooth this place runs. The best food in the world wont do you any good if people cant get served. Saw the owner and I complimented him on how efficient things looked. I think that is more of a regional thing, had Great flavor. the sausage had a different texture than I was accustomed to. Portions were large, o much that a hungry eater like myself was not able to finish. By the time we were done the line was out the door. We got there early and got our food ordered and seated real quick. We stopped there for breakfast on our way home after a week in Kitty Hawk.
